For communities, sure, but if I share this post the link is https://lemmy.calebmharper.com/post/10474, which is obviously not ideal. Same for comments. I am asking if there is a way to share it in a way that isn't instance-specific.

A lot of small electronic devices without screens(which are quite common) probably need something. That said, an ultra-bright LED, especially blue, which seems to be the most annoying, is not the way to go.

Well yes, but I said "technically" because the technical scientific definition of dinosaur is not the one most people think of.

As far as I can tell, the subscriber count on the home instance appears to be the total across instances. As a test, I created a community on my instance(custom w/ 1 user) and my friend subscribed to it. The count displayed was 2, which seems to indicate that it tracks everyone who has subscribed to it, whereas the other instances don't have access to detailed information about the community and can't accurately determine that.
