The consensus answer will be relevant to my interests.

I don't care about the points. I'd like the drive-by magas to stop for a discussion sometime.

Seems like a case of good cop / bad cop. The democrats drag their feet on actually doing anything til the end of their term and then just a few months later the republicans work to undo it.

Oh yes this is absolutely true for current Dem leadership.

So, 1992, nothing was done, 2020, nothing was done. Who's with me in 2048 when we try again to achieve policing which respects life, avoids needless harm and death, and no longer rewards the cops who can't seem to get those things right?

Following a scathing report by the Justice Department in 2023, Minneapolis in January approved a consent decree with the federal government in the final days of the Biden administration to overhaul its training and use-of-force policies under court supervision.

The agreement required approval from a federal court in Minnesota. But the Trump administration was granted a delay soon after taking office while it considered its options, and on Wednesday told the court it does not intend to proceed. It planned to file a similar motion in federal court in Kentucky.

“After an extensive review by current Department of Justice and Civil Rights Division leadership, the United States no longer believes that the proposed consent decree would be in the public interest,” said the Minnesota motion, signed by Andrew Darlington, acting chief of the special litigation section of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division. “The United States will no longer prosecute this matter.”

And let's not forget. Tens of millions of magas, having witnessed the past few months, would vote him in again tomorrow if we gave them a do-over.

As furious as I am at the oligarchs taking over every last thing, evil greedy bastards gonna evil greedy bastard.

That anger pales in comparison to my rage at the tens of millions of my countrymen who dragged the rest of us into this fucking hellscape with them for no reasons beyond:

-Ignorance

-Hate

The ratio of those varies from maga voter to maga voter, but IME those are pretty much the only two reasons I see for why they have condemened not only themselves but also the entire rest of the nation to life in this emerging dystopia. They've already killed people in this country with their vote, and the numbers will only go up.

Yet somehow we all still have to go to work and get along every day, but I truly don't care if I never see or speak to a single Trump voter ever again, and that includes so-called friends and family members. They are all dead to me, or as dead as familial and work obligations will allow. Every last one can choke on a bag of dicks and razor blades as far as I care.

Edit - I beg you, random silent downvoter, to explain to me where I've gone wrong in the above.

That flows directly from the bedrock of our culture which is "Your worth as a human is determined by the work you do in service of building wealth for those above you."

There seems to be some debate on that, but he definitely wrote a song in 2017 that should have been released a couple of months ago. 😁

That's part of "techie reasons" for me. 😁

And there will be no measurable consequences even if all evidence should happen to point to insider trading. If there's even an investigation I'll be amazed.

And THAT is what "undermines faith in government and the markets."

I dunno, I hope you are right, but every time I see a headline like that it turns out to be a feel-good article based on two random disgruntled twitter posters or something.

Well, after years and years and years and years of hating Microsoft for techie reasons, then privacy/"telemetry" reasons, and removing them in all ways from my life wherever possible, now I can hate them for being morally bankrupt in other ways.

On the plus side, they continue to validate my nearly twenty years of touching their software only when paid to do so.

Torment Nexus-ed again

Sharing a video of the building while still aflame, Brad Gordon wrote: "If you don't understand why Black Americans are celebrating the symbolic dismantling of this monument to bondage and generational oppression — well, today, we simply don't care."

How much more dystopian can it get? Hang onto your hat!

The US Department of Homeland Security is reportedly considering an “out-of-the-box” pitch to participate in a television gameshow that would have immigrants compete to obtain US citizenship.

Department spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin described the pitch to the New York Times as a “celebration of being an American” and said the show would include challenges based on American traditions.

In a statement, McLaughlin said: “We need to revive patriotism and civic duty in this country, and we’re happy to review out-of-the-box pitches. This pitch has not received approval or rejection by staff.”

@LandedGentry@lemmy.zip points out that the OP is mistaken.

Removing tax on overtime and tips are included in the bill.

But they’re pulling the same bullshit as last time. Permanent for businesses, temporary for us.
