Alternatively, you use the cloudflare money to sue the monopoly to decouple search and all other products, since blocking the AI trawlers shouldn't have any measurable impact in search rankings

To be pedantic, that's not consistent with Libertarian dogma from Libertarians I have spoken with. NOAA/Weather was one of the parts of government that they were consistently in favor of being a government service vs privatized, along with defense and other base infrastructure (like the power lines being public while the generators are private). I guess it's possible that I've not gotten updated since 2020, but the logic at least used to be internally consistent there.

They're not a url, they're just a string that's often a url. There's no (technical) reason why it couldn't be a signed public key, or a signed url that the camera app could validate

After the back half of that post, I strongly disagree.

Next week's headline: National Parks barred from selling any plant products

We really will use anything but metric

It does look like Roblox is trying to kill the Linux workarounds, though.

This has been the big issue. I'm confident I can tinker something into working, either with Sober as @osbo9991@lemmy.world said or with enough fighting with Lutris/Proton/Wine for today But when the developers are actively working to prevent it. it's a hard sell when we already have the Windows install and it's already working, particularly for something they'll (nominally) outgrow in a few more years.

This. The minute I figure out how to gracefully migrate my VMs off of Hyper-V I'm done with it. My kids' machines would already be migrated if they weren't Roblox enjoyers.

We all knew this was going to pass.

If you thought otherwise I've got a bag for you to hold.

Title assumes the current reality changes to one where stupid shit still happens but it's not always "And then it got worse" (lmao)

Finally got around to replacing the battery in my Razer Nari headset, after years of it only lasting <1 hour on battery power. Couldn't get the soldering with my old iron after over an hour of fucking with it, got frustrated and went to home depot at 8:30 at night to get an iron that isn't older than I am and one of those little clip holder things. Took less than 10 minutes to put the last 2 wires on with a functional tool. Got a new multimeter too. Forgot to take pictures of the completed job though, my bad.

It's turning off during charging occasionally which i think means the first 2 connections might be fucked up, so i might go back and fix those and install the USB-C port I bought for it this weekend.
