The last feature I liked from Discord was screensharing. Everything else since has been useless or outright terrible.

An Invidious instance or mpv
(with yt-fzf
for example).
Personally, I use yt-fzf
for searching (no thumbnails though) and newsboat
(a cli rss reader) for subscribing to YouTube channels then I can load up videos from there to mpv
. I just press the "o" key on my keyboard when a new video comes out and it plays on mpv
.
These are the only two free ones that I can recommend as someone who has been doing (mostly amateur) editing for years.
Oracle has a tendency to pull the rug and take your VPS away. You can read about it on the forums or on r/oraclecloud. I still have mine but I've heard of so many stories about how Oracle will flat out just terminate your instance without warning.
If you want to push through with it, make sure to do regular backups (as everyone should do).
It's June 12 here (Asia region) and interestingly, the only subs appearing on my feed are some of my favorite "deranged users" subs.
