They apparently did a pretty large scale test to decide if a video performs better when the mouth ist open or closed. Open mouth performed so much better that they even retroactively photoshopped their old videos thumbnails to add a open mouth smile to them. That might also contribute to them appearing creepy since they only changed the mouth.

I dont really think so. I mean yea, too much money gets dumped into AI, but the dot com comparison doesn't really work. The dot com bubble burst because investors realized that a ton of small companies(aunt-emmas-flowers.com or something), had no strategies and unsustainable business models. They were all massively overvalued. But Microsoft, Google, Tencent, Baidu are all large companies, they aren't comparable and unlikely to suffer much if one of their investment fail. Additionally, AI is incredibly young and essentially still in beta, just because it works and can be used (and be profited from) doesn't mean the current versions are more than mometized research projects. Yes that's a problem if these are sold as full products, but that's want they are. All users are currently testers for the AI companies. A lot of companies managed to get some of that sweet VC but that's always been possible with the hype of that time. Now its just AI, gullible Investors have lost money since the invention of investing.

Cascade is really funny, because for the first four days that it was uploaded to huggingface, it was under the MIT license. So it technically doesnt fall under the same SD3 license if you downloaded it before the change to the current license. At least in theory. Dont think anyone will want to test it though. Check the commits of the model on huggingface if your want to see for yourself.

Check out the power bank reviews from the channel "Allthingsoneplace". He does excellent reviews, pretty much exclusively focused in the technical side, testing efficiency, protections, etc. He also tests if it would work as an UPS. Most dont work and turn off after a while.

This article is about the newest model, SD3 medium (2B). Previous Models such as SD2 and SDXL were also mostly unable to generate nudity, though they managed beach or summer images. The earliest SD1.5 is most capable of nudity, especially with the copious fine tunes focused on that. SD3 though completely freaks out as soon as it starts generating skin. Its straight up weird. Only winter images with full head to toe clothing produce humans at all. Its currently a landscape generator. Even realistic animals are hard for it. Whatever it successfully generates looks quite nice though. Pretty background wallpapers.

I recently started having the bug again where Gimp crashes when changing text color. Apparently related to Wayland, but I can't change back to xorg just for gimp. Extremely frustrating as I've had that bug half a year ago, then it went away and now its here again.

Anyway, Krita and Photopea are pretty good replacements. Handling Text in Krita is horrible and working in a WebApp with Photopea is weird, but overall still better than crashing...

Jesus have my expectations for Linux software fallen over the years.
