Neat. But it’s kind of concerning to see yet another OSS project hitch it’s community resourcing to Discord.

I'm not sure what's going on, but I'm noticing on the latest beta, that some posts (haven't found a pattern) will open to a completely unrelated post.

Actually... usually it's related to !TenForward@lemmy.world, I'm not sure why (I could be wrong too). It's something I've noticed maybe 5-6 times in the last couple of weeks?

I've linked to a screen recording, hopefully it's obvious to you @CreatureSurvive@lemmy.world

It’s funny. I have been forced to use macOS because of work, and I use rectangle to mimic what KDE plasma does out of the box. I’d suggest using KDE if you wanted something powerfully customizable and user friendly. If you find something that works with other windows decorations (non-KDE), I’d love to know about them too for when I inevitably switch back to Linux Desktop!

Latest share action to Open Lemmy links in Arctic is super handy! Thank you @creaturesurvive@lemmy.world !

I notice that “Open In Arctic” has “in” capitalized, but every other share action on iOS seems to be sentence case. Any way you can make the new Arctic action match the other share actions? 🙏

The latest icon in TestFlight is gorgeous! I am loving the ~~mountain~~ iceberg 😍 is there anyway we can get a few variations though? I would love to get that mountain on a orange or reddish background if that’s simple to do 🙏

Both words are used, so I understand the confusion; also, sprinkled with a little misspelling:

Dumpster: The Dempster Brorthers, Inc.

EDIT: Just read the Dumpster Wikipedia page. The Dempster Brothers' had a truck called The Dempster Dumpmaster 😂

I'm trying to use ProtonVPN to set up split tunneling so that my tun0 is the only network device that is protected by ProtonVPN. I need this because I have file & web servers running on this Linux box (Ubuntu).

With previous VPNs I've used, I would use OpenVPN and add to the openvpn config and this work the way I intended:

route-nopull
route 10.0.0.0 255.0.0.0

With other VPNs I'd just run

curl --interface tun0 ip.me

And that would return a VPN ip address.

For some reason, ProtonVPN seems to be blocking me from using the same workflow. Is there a working guide for ProtonVPN to do what I'm trying to do?

Is there anyway to display the name and instance of the OP for a post in the Home feed? I see the name displayed for Community feeds.

That’s odd. The project has been archived. No more active development. This seems like such a cool project too. I wonder what happened 🙏

We are in a privacy community. A privacy community with a specific website that makes recommendations on messenger apps. And yet, OP is asking for an opinion on comparisons between Signal (recommended by the guide) and Telegram (which isn’t even in the guide). Why would this be necessary if they weren’t thinking Telegram could be a private and secure messenger too? Even tho it’s not recommended on privacy guides. Draw whatever conclusions you want to fit your own world view. But just because others do so differently, doesn’t mean they’re bots. That’s a very lazy way to view the world. And that is also just my opinion. If you wanted to discuss the points of the article, I’m down. But if you’re coming in here to be reductive because you have a differing opinion, then this is all I’m going to be saying to you.

Hm? Not sure which Signal you’re using. But it very much still requires a phone number to use. Usernames are not available just yet. There’s activity related to usernames in the GitHub repository, but no release yet.

They did remove the ability to send and receive SMS from their Android app. That was about last year or so.

FB Messenger and Instagram Messenger would be the worst for privacy... But Telegram is basically just FB Messenger with nicer UX features.

There's a couple of platforms that have better privacy and security (debatable) features than Signal, but Signal is more widely adopted amongst the E2EE Messengers.

The biggest feature I notice missing in almost all Lemmy apps, is jumping to the top on the first tap of the tab icon of the view you’re in.

E.g. you’ve scrolled down a bit while in the Posts tab, then you tap the Posts icon, in Apollo, it would jump to the top of the list view in Posts, then second tap would take you to the communities subscribed slideout view.

Would love to see both the first and second tap functionality added to the tab icons as it’s a great quality of life feature IMO.

Wow. This app is so damned polished already!

The biggest feature I notice missing in almost all Lemmy apps, is jumping to the top on the first tap of the tab icon of the view you’re in.

E.g. you’ve scrolled down a bit while in the Posts tab, then you tap the Posts icon, in Apollo it would jump to the top of the list view in Posts, then second tap would take you to the communities subscribed slideout view.

Lemma does the second function but not the first. Would love to see this added as it’s a great quality of life feature IMO.

I’ve been seeing this in the All section… what is it?

Imagine an insurance company using data about you that it purchased from FB or Twitter to give you different insurance rates.

Or your social posts or posts tagged of you affecting your credit score or job application or even your rent application.

There are so many scenarios where having your privacy respected would protect you from unnecessary and unfair judgement.
