The guy on the right has his face obscured by the white part of the flag he is holding. Also, if you look at the guy on the left, you can see the label on his jeans is slightly blurred. Looks like the person snapping the picture either moved their phone or the guys were still moving slightly.

This is charity, not Socialism. This is providing help at the whim of one person's desires or beliefs. Charity has its place but society should use its resources to offer help to everyone in need.

Edit: And just to be clear, when we talk about socialism, we are talking about democratic socialism. That doesn't mean there isn't free market commerce, it just means that the market is regulated. Even the U.S. regulates its free market.

What would happen if he or the Pope told all Florida Catholics to stop participating in society?

While I would never listen to music in public on my phone speakers, I have to say that they are just as good as, if not better than, transistor radios I have had.

We can't keep fighting with the weapons of yesterday. Like it or not, propaganda is a part of resistance. Look back at all the WW2 propaganda in the US and the UK. We must take control of the message.

Isn't the solution to train people to get past HR? I know it would infuriate me to have to do this but HR needs to be treated as an obstacle. Remember when personality tests first started appearing. There were people teaching how to give the answers HR wanted.

We have these amazing little computers in our hands. What are some beneficial things we can do with them? Websites, apps, tinkering... anything you can think of or things you already do. I'm tired of doom scrolling.

I just found out that my neighbor that I share a wall with is moving out because of "the mouse issue." This is the first I've heard about it. I'm pretty sure I don't have mice. I haven't found any chewed food packaging or what looks like mouse droppings. I do have a cat but I'm not confident he would know how to kill a mouse. I've never seen him chase anything on the floor but I know he will chase flying insects. I also haven't been presented with any "presents." Could he really be keeping the mice from my apartment by just his scent?

This thing just started popping up and I hate it. Edit - added picture of offending box.

Meet Seamus.

I don't understand what is in those Hartz (I know) Delectables Bisque treats that make my cat crazy. At first I thought it might be the tuna, but I tried just the chicken recipe and he still scarfs them down. They are just so expensive. I tried pureeing a can of Fancy Feast Kitten Ocean Whitefish pate because I have about 15 cans left over from his tiny kitten days. Turned his nose up at it. I even warmed it in the microwave for a few seconds. All the package says is water, chicken, natural flavor, tapioca starch, guar gum, annatto extract color, carmine color. Obviously, the tuna ones have tuna instead of chicken. What could possibly be in there? Anyone have success with some other substitute? I know there are other brands but those are even more expensive. Thanks.

Are there any communities like r/Excel on Lemmy? I searched but all I saw were Linuxmemes and Technology.

Everything just seems so out of control. The US seems to be tearing itself apart. The world is on fire. We seem to be going backwards when it comes to freedom and human rights. We've turned our backs on each other. How do you cope with all this without just giving up?

So, I just got my tax bill yesterday. It is just for my car as I don't own anything else. It isn't outrageous but I can't imagine what it must be like for other people in the state. Whatever happened to the push to eliminate car taxes?
