It blows my mind to see so many leaders so nonchalant about genocide.

Wow wtf. Their apology doesn't even hint at one of the biggest problems in the question, that people shouldn't be aspiring to become "better" AI-generated versions of themselves. What kind of dick asks people to even consider that?

It also sucks for the hiring manager who has to interview candidates they know they won't hire just to stick to the process. It's a waste of everyone's time.

Hey, you all gave it your best shot, but it looks like it’s a little harder than you thought to run a candidate who won’t be a national fucking disgrace, doesn’t it?” >

It's unfortunate that this rings true to many cities.

From the wiki article :

Perelman resigned from his research post in Steklov Institute of Mathematics and in 2006 stated that he had quit professional mathematics, owing to feeling disappointed over the ethical standards in the field. >

Anybody have any idea what the ethical standards might be that he's referring to? Not sure if there's a scandal or something or just an overall sense of displeasure with the field.

It's hard to believe that Annapurna leadership (and Ellison specifically) are surprised by this. It reads like Ellison is known for backing out of deals or simply not honoring them. Why should the staff believe she would honor a spinoff deal?

Hope the team is able to get something off the ground.

I agree with other replies here with one addition. People who get into grad school are generally the high achievers from their high school and undergrad programs, so they are used to being the only or one of few star students. In PhD programs everyone is a star student, so it can be a bit jarring to folks used to being head of the class when they suddenly aren't.

It can cause a bit of jealousy and competitive thinking but most of the time students get past it and focus simply on enduring the gauntlet.

I know October kind of implies this but I'd add Halloween to this group.

The article doesn't specify, but what kind of 'activity on adult websites' is damaging to the point that a candidate would be pressed to drop out?

This is nice and all, but I don't know that it means a whole lot. There are few stakes for the people coming out to endorse Harris now. They don't work in govt roles, hold position in a political organization or an elected office.

The rank and file GOP (who are running for reelection now or in 2-4 years) are still sticking to the party line and the approved narrative. When they start flipping then it will be real news.

It's of course troubling that AI images will go unidentified through this service (I am also not at all confident that Google can do this well/consistently).

However I'm also worried about the opposite side of this problem- real images being mislabeled as AI. I can see a lot of bad actors using that to discredit legitimate news sources or stories that don't fit their narrative.

My God what hubris. Rush had so many chances to pause the dive or work on a redesign and ignored it. I can't imagine the fear of being 3000+ feet below and hearing the first cracks of the hull as it starts to implode. Hope it was fast.

???

Finally some good news on a studio closure. So glad for the team at Tango they found someone to take them on.

If you haven't watched the olympic break dancing competition, do yourself a favor and check it out. The woman competing for Australia might be the best thing I've seen so far.

So, anybody know a good launcher to use once Nova goes offline?

Left the original title from the article for consistency, but article suggests that they may not be shutting down and are instead restructuring.

36 employees were laid off.

Curious about y'alls opinions on this. I like the idea of getting new people to experience an older game by aligning it to modern graphics and accessibility standards. But capitalizing on nostalgia with quick updates to that make it look modern rather than making new games seems like just more of studios trying to squeeze money out of us.

Anybody tried Bliss?

Thought you all might find this interesting. I like this artist, but can imagine seeing oneself portrayed this way could be jarring.

So excited to consolidate my mess of drives and get a big boost to my storage.
