Memoriam helps to miss Bolt Thrower not so much.

They are so good and are getting bettet with every Album. Excellent choice for a post.

Black Thrash from South West Germany.

Mostly straight in your face and quite groovy. Sometimes more to the thrash metal side, sometimes Primordial like, sometime punky.

All clad in an old school early Black Metal production.

Check out “Learn to love the void” first, then “Exile is imminent” and afterwards “Hellputa” (Sodom would have killed for this one in 1985).

All in all not a 100% thrash band. I hope it fits in this community despite of that.

War Drop is such a banger! I was very surprised about what a bass can do. Perfect match with her voice.

Well… 32 years is a damned long time. I think the part at 3:10 is typical Thommy Vetterli. The rest is really different to the legacy material. Let’s see when there are more songs to hear. I am pumped anyway, LOL

Just pre-ordered the vinyl.

Let’s hope they can make a comeback as strong as Exhorder did.

Oh my goodness - how long have I been waiting for this. Progressive thrash legends Coroner are back with a new song. The first since 1993.

I hope they will release a proper album.

I saw them live on their last tour with Poltergeist. There were about 20 people and the stage was 10 cm high. IMO one of the most underrated metal bands of all time.

Listen to their album “Grin” and tell me otherwise.

Enjoy

I found them very cool and interesting when they came out with this. They couldn’t nail it to 100% but the approach was very original.

If you are into CDs or vinyl, you can still get them (vinyl would be used of course). And you can buy the album on Bandcamp for 8€ I think.

Don’t know whether they are on any other streaming platform, I only use tidal and sometimes Bandcamp.

Yeah, the singer really does the trick IMO.

I missed their last concert (support gig for Tankard), but my wife was there and she enjoyed it.

From my hometown local heroes Repent emit Bay Area influenced thrash metal with hardcore style vocals.

Fast and hard, straight forward and no bullshit.

Founded in 1992 they have recorded four albums so far. Vortex of Violence is their best effort IMO.

These guys are kind of hidden champions. It’s a shame they don’t play live so often.

That’s a fantastic track, too. I like the more brutal approach they used on this album in comparison to let’s say “Great is our sin”.

I like this song by Revocation very much indeed. “Nihilistic violence” is a brutal hybrid of death and thrash metal.

Take a good listen at the spectacular tempo change at 2:30. 🤩

P. S. The whole album “Netherheaven” is really worthwhile.

My brain keeps adding vocals 😆

There is a book by a German sociologist which states that Heavy Metal makes introvert and rather scary personailites happy and feel safe. Maybe that's the answer. We are scaredy-cats looking for shelter in loud guitar music. 😆

Maybe currently Germany’s hottest Heavy Metal act - The Night Eternal.
Their latest album “Fatale” sounds very original to me which is a good deal on the singer’s behalf.
Rooted in classic HM like Iron Maiden, but more modern in overall sound. Melodic and somewhat hectic.

Berlin based Space Chaser are part of the new wave of German thrash bands who hold up the flag. They were founded in 2011.

Fantastic album with a charismatic singer (who left lately, shame). Blitz vibes IMO.

This is razor sharp thrash metal. Especially the first three songs are really worthwhile. The album made it up to rank 24 in the German charts. 🤘🏻

Check out Cryoshock, Remnants of Technology and Juggernaut.

Album Nr. 13 by German thrashers „Accu§er“. They don’t get the attention they deserve IMO. Maybe it’s the vocals which could be identified as the only weaker spot of this classy outfit. However it’s not a bad singer at all, don’t get me wrong.

Versatile thrash with many original twists which make the music recognisable.

Overall is their style not purely Teutonic. This time they rely on 3-minute songs with lots of good ideas in them. Good choice!

The solos are often top notch IMHO with an arabesque touch.

Personal faves on this one:

Faded Remorse

Rebirthless

Fear Denied

One of the oldest German thrash bands founded in 1985 they had to dissolve in 1989 when all their gear was stolen. They re-emerged in 2002 and are alive and kicking.

This album was released in 2020. It never fails to entertain me.

Really raw vocals and lots of good riffing. The occasional melodic vocal line can be found within the guitar noise, too.
Add a good load of gang shouts and there you go!

Personal faves:

Swamp Thing

How Much Can I Take

The Wall

Solid steel from Gelsenkirchen is supplied with "The Arsonist" from SODOM. Old school thrash of very good quality, to which drummer Toni Merkel has left his mark.

The drum sound stands out, whereas Angelripper's Bollerbass disappears in the mix this time.

Some echos of Slayer can also be heard.

Unfortunately, an outstanding firecracker is missing, but all in all a really good album.
