The title uses the word public in a way that nearly everyone would read as referring to doing something like having sex in a public park. Not in the way that it is meant which could much more accurately be described as cummunal without the implication being that it will be visible to all.

How are Republicans so effective as a minority party then? Because people keep saying this ignoring that Republicans have "not had the numbers" within recent memory and been a lot more effective in getting the things that they want done still. Is it maybe because the corpo dems bend over fucking backwards to let the republicans do what the want e.g. Chuck Schumer lieing his ass off and saying they'll get something they want then voting in a bill that had nothing dems want.

It's partly that I'm sure and also to dehumanize them further. It's not mentioned in the article but I would imagine they aren't given silverware and have to eat with their hands. In american culture it is often seen as a lowly/animalistic thing to eat with your hands*. So they can continue to see them as not human because they "don't eat like one".
