I kind of doubt most people were thinking about super delegates in the polling booth. That’s pretty a wonky and most people don’t pay attention to that.

IMHO, it was the super simple stuff that we see in elections all over the world. A candidate gets a leg up if they are well known or is a continuation of a recent administration that people liked.

Dem leadership decided we don't need to find a good candidate anymore.

People had Warren, Sanders, Buttigieg, and Klobuchar to pick from. Voters picked Biden.

It wasn’t so much the voice that was the problem, it’s that his answers were often bad and totally incoherent.

If he was clear and concise, I’d deal with the raspy voice.

I don’t know if this is an improvement. As many feared, the muted mic saved Trump from himself. I’m sure his staff was actually pretty excited about that rule.

It would prevent him from doing what he did last time, which polled terribly.

IMHO, complaining about the refs feels like grasping for straws.

Biden was rambling, incoherent, and unlike Trump, he couldn’t get on message. And the messaging against Trump ain’t complex. He wants fascism, he’s killing women, covid was a fucking disaster under him, he’s a felon, and he’s lying. Biden struggled to get the basics out in a clear and coherent way.

IMHO, this is NOT the time to keep on and carry on. This debate is early enough that he can still step down and we can have a contested convention. The alternative is fascism. Biden is going to lose this shit.

Seeing the stripes next to the month helps people know if it is a single, double, or triple stripe month.

I wish the mods would make a rule to require users to provide an archive link as a back up.

That question was addressed in the article.

the issue of back pay remains complex and largely unaddressed in the immediate details provided by the officials. They did not specify commitments regarding back pay for the time veterans were unjustly separated from service, which suggests that further clarifications from the Department of Defense might be necessary.

This is Apple Maps.

Apple Maps doesn’t just recommend the fastest routes, it also appears to push the most popular routes as alternatives.

Here is the San Francisco area to LA in iOS 18. The longer route might seem insane if you’re not familiar with the drive, but that longer route is much prettier, and a lot of people intentionally drive in the coastal road for the views.

Edit: Weird. Lemmy isn’t loading the picture for me. All in all, this is a map of I5 to LA vs the Hyw 101 to LA. I5 is 2 hours faster, but it’s a long brown valley, it smells like cow shit, and you’re bombarded with homemade MAGA signs for several hours. It’s a drive of hate, farts, and truck stop food. 101 longer, but it’s recommended for redwoods forests and cute little beach towns.

One survey, from the Orlando Health Cancer Institute, found that 1 in 7 American adults under age 35 believe using sunscreen daily is more harmful than direct sun exposure.
