I'm a bit surprised to see his name. I read "Seeing like a bank" and snippets of a few other blogposts, he didn't come off as a ghoul

Also what the fuck?

In your mind, is a racist who "possesses strong animus towards non-whites" a special category of person with which we should not engage in any kind of discussion? Or if we should not be casual towards them, how should we act? Why?

So what exactly happens to people who get really into Scott et al. and then realize that they're racist? I mean people like OP who genuinely seemed shocked by how buddy buddy their "unorthodox" intellectuals are with blatant racists.

Do they slowly disengage from rationalist-spheres, or do they just become cryptoracists like all the other idw types?

Google has supplemented their AI customer service backend with a just as stupid AI front-end. They're pushing you to make refund claims with "Google AI". It's a chat bot, and you're pushed to use it to see the status of your refunds. Clicking a button and viewing a table of refund requests is apparently too Web 2.0, so instead you can ask a chatbot to pull up that status of your refunds one...by...one. It's the second least useful use of a chatbot I've ever seen personally, right behind the chatbot they put into my office's seating software.

The craziest part is that it works as well on a standard phone.

We didn’t bother testing out any other functionality, such as Spotify integration, Vision, etc., but we wouldn’t be surprised if some of them didn’t work.

I wonder how many recent trans people tried/considered doubling down on their sex (eg males taking more testosterone) instead first. Maybe (for some people) either end of gender spectrum is comfortable and being in the middle feels bad¿ Anybody know? Don't want to ask my friends because this Q will certainly anger them

Does he want to medically transition from being a man to being a... bigger, stronger man? Because there's a special place you can do that and it doesn't require you to yo-yo your body's test levels for 2 decades.

HN Parenting Pro-tip: Chuck your kids into the pool, keep 'em sharp. Sure they might drown, but at least they won't trust you after they make it back to land.

When discussing historical events you will use BC and AD for dating

Funnily enough, that one prompt seems innocent.

The picture, I could live with; The blog, I could stomach; but the comments? Oh my god the comments

Yes, I used to think I was a very smart person, smartest in most rooms I entered. I now realize I had never entered any really smart rooms. I now say publicly and often that Scott Alexander is the smartest person I have ever encountered as well as one the best explainers--and his commenters are often nearly that smart and persuasive as well. It has been humbling to recognize what a truly smart person looks like . . . but also a great blessing.

Wtf? If I didn't know any better I'd think he was talking about Euler! I'd vomit and die if I ever heard that irl.
