For a society that is so immersed in guns, americans seem disconnected af them. "you don't aim a gun unless you intend to shoot and you don't shoot unless you intend to kill" is like basic knowledge that even ppl who don't use firearms regularly should know, biden's phrase is beyond embarassing, but any lib who doesn't have his level of dementia and agreed with with is just as gross as the regular facist bootlicker

On one comments he said that the bible is meant to be read in english because "english is the main language in the end times" and his evidence for that is that there are some puns in the bible that kind of work in english.

You remember the quadratic formula that you used in high school to solve 2nd degree polynomial equations? The reason it exists is because 2 is the only number whose factorial is prime (2! = 2).

Most people don't learn it in high school but there is also a cubic formula for 3rd degree equations. The reason it exists is because if you have an equilateral triangle with labeled vertices and you decide to randomly shuffle the vertices, the resulting triangle will be a rotation or reflection of the original triangle, and no other polygon does that.

A 4th degree formula exists, but it's too large to be convenient to use. The reason it exists is because the non regular polygon with the smallest sides that has more than one reflection symmetry is the rectangle, which has 4 sides.

Galois theory is full of weird coincidences like that. Also there is no formula for degrees 5 and above and there never will be because there is no coincidences like these with the numbers 5 and above, and I personally think that is really interesting.

Never played 1e, but my favorite points for 2e are:

For players: The amount of freedom you have to create and run a character can't be overstated. The system is feat based, so two players with the same race+class combo can have vastly different characters. There's actual options to combine races, not just "human+elf and human+orc are the only mixed people in the universe". The three actions system is so clean and streamlined that once you use it you can never go back to the weirdness of dnd 5e. Also the classes are actually balanced, if you are a fighter player you won't feel left behind because your mage friend learned to conjure meteor storms at the same time you learned to attack for the third time in a round.

For DMs: The game has real rules and restrictions, you won't need to magically divine bonuses and penalities if your player decides to do some weird action or create rulings on the spot.

This just reminded me that the transformers wiki has a page on Jesus Christ and it's written using solely information you can gather from the cartoons, as if the page author never heard of Jesus outside of the series

It's a self aggrandizing way of presenting it, but depending on what patent nintendo is attacking them over, they're 100% correct. Patenting game mechanics is always a bad thinh for gaming as a whole, and the less courts allow this shit to fly the better

A Texas man who drugged his wife's drinks in an attempt to induce an abortion was sentenced to 180 days in jail and 10 years on probation.

Mason Herring, a 39-year-old Houston attorney, pleaded guilty Wednesday to injury to a child and assault of a pregnant person. He had initially been charged with felony assault to induce abortion.

Catherine Herring, who has filed for divorce, told the court the jail sentence was not long enough. She said their 1-year-old daughter, their third child, was born about 10 weeks premature, has developmental delays and attends therapy eight times a week.

“I do not believe that 180 days is justice for attempting to kill your child seven separate times,” Catherine Herring said.

Catherine Herring told authorities her husband in March 2022 began lecturing her on hydration and offering water. She said she became severely ill after drinking from the first cup that appeared cloudy, which her husband explained was perhaps the result of the cup or water pipes being dirty.

Catherine Herring became suspicious and began refusing multiple other drinks her husband offered. She later found in the trash packaging for a drug that contained misoprostol, a medicine used to induce abortion.

She also gave police videos from hidden cameras she installed at her home where her husband was no longer living. One of them showed him mixing a substance in one of her drinks, Catherine Herring said.

Mason Herring's attorney, Dan Cogdell, called the plea deal and sentence reasonable.

“It’s a sad situation and Mason has accepted his responsibility,” Cogdell said.

Texas law logic:

frothingfash : A Doctor Helped a Woman have a safe, consentual abortion? Jail for Life!

so-true : A guy secretly poisoned his wife multiple times, causing birth defects on his child? Well, what can you do, a slap in the wrist is enough.
