As a parent I rather not have government tell me what is approved thing and what's not. I'm not LGBT and not interested in drag shows but honestly the whole thing is blown out of proportion.

I find it ridiculous that countries like Poland are heavily against LGBT, then the same people will turn on TV to watch cabaret (note the meaning in US is different than in Europe) and watch male comedians dressed as women for comedic effect (e.g. https://youtu.be/iM87cjLCCwI?t=63)

Yeah, also anyone who claims that they didn't switch to mastodon because it is too confusing, must have serious learning disability. I can understand that Lemmy is harder than traditional reddit, because the problem is more complex and the service still need a lot of polish, but mastodon is very simple to use.

With ISP what is really need is Local-loop unbundling but extending to ISPs.

Those that are old enough to use DSL in early 2000, might remember there was a lot of ISPs to chose from. The reason for it was that due to Title II telco companies were required to lease lines to their competitors. When cable started to be popular, ISPs lobbied politicians to categorize it under Title I which removed that requirement. We got Internet back to be categorized as Title II, but this specific rule was excluded and this is what is necessary to bring the competition.

Intel Management Engine is a component that has access to your computer on a level that even you, the computer owner, don't have access to. It can be operated remotely, even when your computer is off.

And traditionally you can't even disable it (remember, you're not the trusted party in that mix).

LOL, this reminds me of my coworkers. Guy in his 50s, kids already grown up, very quiet, barely know anything about him. One time we had an event and wanted to carpool. We get all in, he turns the ignition and RAAAAAAAAHHHHH! Kind of surprised me and I learned to not assume too much.

Actually right now even democracy is considered a dirty word, they even say that US isn't democracy, but a republic (ignoring what republic is).

They already started conditioning their minions, that dictatorship isn't really all that bad.

The ironic thing is that the primary reason why communism is bad is that it normally comes together with totalitarism, and that's what they essentially arguing for.

EU approved few insects for consumption as a novelty food and will need to pass defined standards and inspections.

But conservatives, even in US used that as an argument that they will make us feed bugs.

There's also "spez is a whore son", but I guess spez doesn't read German.

There were plenty videos posted showing that reddit admins were using some tool that was just putting random patterns over it (they didn't even bother to make it look real, so it appeared all at once)

People who are engaging with it as a form a protest are just dumb. Reddit has full control over it so they can remove anything they don't like instantly.

I don't think they care, Russia is no longer communist.

To explain what I mean. I noticed that while term "tankies" is accepted as a term to refer to communists (particularly communists that would defend use of tanks on civilians), today's tankies are also defending Russia which isn't communist anymore (it's more fascist than anything). Even those on lemmygrad. It feels like it never was about communism, but it always was about totalitarianism and Soviets.
