These super cute little friends with extremely photogenic faces, cute little antennae, and adorable dopey bumbling flight patterns are popping up in my area for a short period if frantically mating and laying eggs. They spread joy and magic wherever they go like little fairies. 
Looking at pictures of sea life calms me down sometimes. the ocean is so peaceful π
Killdeer intentionally build their nests with white/light colored stones and material as you see demonstrated here. This may help keep the nest cooler and camouflage the eggs.
