I use Newpipe more than Spotify at this point. I've had it for years and it's one of my main apps that I use every day for music streaming.

Any song, anytime, from the largest library of music on the internet, no ads as well as download support, FOR FREE, it really doesn't get much better than that.

It's one of the big reasons for why I will never jump ship to iPhone, nothing iPhone has comes close to Newpipe, it's a deal breaker for me.

I just put $15 of my money forward now to help out, but I still think they deserve far more for all the value Newpipe has given me over the last 2-3 years.

So thank you newpipe team for the past, present and future! :)

Would be nice to have the following:

• Chronological sort on search results
• Easier way to view live videos. Major
• Resolve upcoming videos in a more elegant way rather than error message.

Yesterday, NewPipe's network failed on my device (Galaxy A10), and I couldn't play any videos. I thought this was a temporary issue, but I'm met with an endless loading screen whenever I open the app (+ channel logos not loading, etc.). It is for sure a connection problem, but I haven't been able to solve it.

I re-installed NewPipe (latest version) but the problem still persists. I went and installed the same version on a BlueStacks instance (Galaxy S22) and connection works just fine.

I wonder if old devices can't connect to NewPipe anymore, or am I just missing a configuration somewhere?

Hello everyone, I have a Samsung Smart TV and the normal youtube app on it which spams me with ads. I wanted to know if there is a way to install NewPipe on Samsung TV I believe their OS is called Tizen.

I sucessfully installed Jellyfin on the TV with their release on Github know I'm wondering if the same can be done with NewPipe ?

Hey fellow Newpipe users,

I've been a happy Newpipe user for quite some time now, but I've run into a frustrating issue in the past 2-3 months. Whenever I try to play a YouTube video using Newpipe, the video stops and gets stuck in an endless buffering loop. I've tried everything I can think of, including uninstalling and reinstalling Newpipe, as well as testing it on multiple YouTube videos, but the problem persists.

After a short while, the video just goes into a never-ending buffering mode. Has anyone else experienced this issue recently? Any suggestions on how to fix it. Thanks in advance.

I saw recently several posts and comments on the web about that NewPipe has ads and/or tracking in it. It is false, you simply downloaded an unofficial and modified version of the app (which probably violates on the fly the license of our app, GPL version 3), which so has been tampered with. NewPipe doesn't contain in-app ads and doesn't track you.

Download only NewPipe from official sources, which are:

• our website (which redirects you to the sources listed above):
• our GitHub releases:
• our F-Droid custom repository:
• the official F-Droid repository (which builds the app from its source code):

Additional installation instructions and/or incompatibilities can be found on the app readme and/or in the sources itself.

Other download places are not official and shouldn't be used.

For about a month now. On android It was always at 1:09. Now sometimes it's earlier. Np has become unusable. Deleted and reinstalled. Cleared cache etc.

Actual: any/all yt videos stop typically at 1:09 although one stopped at :44 yesterday . Video gets stuck on loading wheel for indeterminate amount of time. Sometimes there's a error notification stating to check notifications. But there are notifications to check.

Hello there.

We have been quite about this subreddit for the last months while it was restricted. We were hoping to have a lemmy instance running for a while now and offering it as a drop in replacement for this subreddit. This is not the case as of now.

We grew frustrated about this situation and decided to open up the subreddit again. This is also frustrating however, we hate what reddit has done with a passion (If you need a recap: restricting 3rd party access, lie with statements about their devs and moderators, totally screwing over the blind community, etc. ).

We plan on making this subreddit read only again once our lemmy instance exists.

For a while, the F1 highlight gets played in a non-English language and I just thought the channel used the same language as the country was hosting but when I go onto Youtube and watch the same videos the commentary is in English. The same just started to happen with another channel I watch, non-English in Newpipe but English on YouTube.

I've gone into the setting and content and changed app language, default content language, and default county content to English, English, and Australia and restarted the app, cleared cash and all history but the same issue is occurring. Is there something else that I have to do?

How do you import playlists? I am only able to import subscriptions from YT as far as I can see. There are no options for importing when viewing the bookmarks tab.

So I saw the discussion on github () that goes over rewriting NewPipe with Material Design 3, Kotlin, Jetpack Compose and maybe Flutter So I thought ima give up my personal opinion on it.

I think rewriting NewPipe would be a great idea cuz it would be able to compete with downloaders like Seal, YTDLnis and with other new youtube client alternatives again. NewPipe still has a really old ui that doesnt fit in the modern time, has a few bugs, lacks on cool features that Seal, YTDLnis and other clients have it also lacks on frequent updates because of big bugs that the developers are focusing on. If NewPipe would rewrite it would probably fix most of the problems and people will start using NewPipe again more frequent then other alternatives the only disadvantages would probably be even longer waiting for updates and people that complain about the design that they aren't familiar with.

What are your opinions on NewPipe trying this step?

As NewPipe doesn't show any "Live" tab content, I often just search for the video ID in quotes to pull up past livestreams. Today, the search I am trying is apparently close enough to a word that I am getting "Showing results for" instead of the actual search term I put in.

I haven't experienced this before, but perhaps there is something that can be done in a future release to negate this?

Anytime I hit the download icon on a youtube video while using Revanced, I just get a notification saying the video is now autoplaying in the background via Newpipe, it no longer pops up with the download menu. I have just checked, I do have the latest version of both. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
