Bullshit. She's great, with a long track record to back that up.
Not only is she not old and not in mental decline, but she's also charismatic, engaging, and she is progressive. Congress and the courts will limit her policies of course, but that's by design, the government is not just the president.
Beyond that, with picking Walz and other strategic picks in her campaign, she's shown that she knows how to form a good team and avoid landmines.
I'm looking forward to the Harris presidency and voting For her, not just against Trump.
The DNC is the first potential landmine, the debate the second - barring any unforeseen developments of course.
I really hope they have a good plan for the convention, hearing Bill and Hillary Clinton will speak does not inspire confidence in building on the momentum of the young voters who are currently injecting energy into the campaign. I hope there are other highlights planned to balance it out. Now is not the time to remind people of the old guard of the democratic party - they need to lean into this gift of Harris somehow managing to portray herself as a fresh candidate representing hope and energy and new ideas.
Literally the bare minimum...
She picked someone with charisma voters like...
Again, you're setting the bar for "great" ridiculously low.
I'm not saying she's bad, but she sure as shit isn't great.
Not downvoting you, and I understand what you’re saying. What I think is different (because I don’t think I weighed too much in on the speculation around Biden, but I was concerned about potential options, too) is that the party is actually united (which I didn’t expect at all) and, particular with Harris, she is better as a politician and leader than she was 4 years ago. She is more seasoned, she speaks more clearly (for the most part), and she is running from a position of strength (she’s already done the VP job) and isn’t trying to convince anyone she can be a credible presidential politician. It’s a much different ballgame.
For the part about uniting the party, maybe many could have done that. In terms of presidential credibility, there are very very few people anywhere near as qualified. Federal prosecutor —> AG (I voted for her) —> Senator (I voted for her) —> VP (I voted for her) all are incredibly substantial on her resume. Oh, and she already passed the first test, which is elevating another politician to the level of credible presidential politics (Hillary didn’t do that). Overall I’m really really pleased with Kamala, hope she keeps it up.
Better than Trump by a country mile
Obviously...
But again, that doesn't make someone great, pick a random jabroni from your county fair and they'd be better than trump too.
Hell, you might get Wallz
Look at all the polls and everyone online talking about her. She's our leader now, by simply enough of the party consolidating around her by liking her (like 93% of Democrats polled want her), and honestly it's the fact that she excites us. That matters in elections because of down ballot effects, and even policy by electoral mandate. Effective leaders make a difference. And she is effective
I do to...
Compared to Biden.
I honestly don't care who replaced him and have been saying it forever. Lots of Americans agreed.
My point is, that doesn't mean we support her platform, which basically got anything progressive from her primary ripped out.
It just came out today. People had zero idea what her policy was before that, most dont. But she's not trump and under retirement age.
I'm happy we got this much, doesn't mean it's enough
