it always embarassed me growing up that our house was kind of dirty.

like i avoided bringing women over and shit because of the clutter.

i cant be the only one who grew up like this.

I had a very clean parent. And to be honest I hated it, because it was enforced thru violence and anger. Standing outside hearing your parent screaming because of a 'mess' was too much for me. I was paralyzed when it came to cleaning. I literally had to remove everything from my room and clean it and put everything back.

As I parent I never really gave a shit. I never wanted to put my kids thru that trauma. I had one kid who was embarrassed, but at least they weren't scared of making a mess.

Not sure how that has panned out. My kids are a bit messy.
