Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

Image is of a Hezbollah missile attack on a military camp west of Jenin.

The situation between Hezbollah and Israel is rapidly escalating, with massive bombing campaigns on southern Lebanon by Israel predominantly on civilians (as the tunnels in South Lebanon are mostly unreachable to the Zionists, just like in Gaza), while Hezbollah and its allies respond with missile attacks predominantly on Israeli military facilities. Israel is spreading an evacuation order to the residents of southern Lebanese villages while also bombing their routes of escape and civilian infrastructure, similar to a terror tactic used widely in Gaza.

Northern Israel is currently under military censorship to hide their losses, so we get very little information other than what the Resistance provides and what videos and images get through the censors.

I don't know if Israel will dare a ground incursion soon, but it seems fairly likely in the coming days or weeks.

Israel-Palestine Conflict

If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Sources on the fighting in Palestine against Israel. In general, CW for footage of battles, explosions, dead people, and so on:

UNRWA reports on Israel's destruction and siege of Gaza and the West Bank.

English-language Palestinian Marxist-Leninist twitter account. Alt here.
English-language twitter account that collates news.
Arab-language twitter account with videos and images of fighting.
English-language (with some Arab retweets) Twitter account based in Lebanon. - Telegram is @IbnRiad.
English-language Palestinian Twitter account which reports on news from the Resistance Axis. - Telegram is @EyesOnSouth.
English-language Twitter account in the same group as the previous two. - Telegram here.

English-language PalestineResist telegram channel.
More telegram channels here for those interested.

Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Examples of Ukrainian Nazis and fascists
Examples of racism/euro-centrism during the Russia-Ukraine conflict

Sources:

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.
Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.
Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
Simplicius, who publishes on Substack. Like others, his political analysis should be soundly ignored, but his knowledge of weaponry and military strategy is generally quite good.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Pro-Russian Telegram Channels:

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

https://t.me/aleksandr_skif ~ DPR's former Defense Minister and Colonel in the DPR's forces. Russian language.
https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.
https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.
https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.
https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.
https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.
https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.
https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.

Pro-Ukraine Telegram Channels:

Almost every Western media outlet.
https://discord.gg/projectowl ~ Pro-Ukrainian OSINT Discord.
https://t.me/ice_inii ~ Alleged Ukrainian account with a rather cynical take on the entire thing.

A lot of people on Hexbear and elsewhere have been predicting the invasion of Lebanon as the end of Israel. They have failed to defeat Hamas over the last 11 months, they have absolutely no chance against Hezbollah in Lebanon. The end is soon inshallah-script

[–] FunkyStuff@hexbear.net 55 points 5 days ago

sit-back-and-enjoy

I'm worried about how many Lebanese people will be killed in the Zionist entity's last throes, but I hope Hezbollah can end the genocide with the least casualties they can.

Not to be a doomer but "not being able to win" is not the same as "will be defeated completely". Kicking the zionist scum out of your own country is one thing, liberating land they have occupied for a lifetime is something completely different, especially when they are backed by the American empire.

I didn't want to be pedantic, but I felt the same way.

This isn't going to be what destroys the entity, but it will be a major contributing factor moreso than Gaza even.

What will destroy the entity is the slow burn of attrition taking its toll on the economy, resources, and settlers forcing them to leave.

Once the hope that bond reimbursement is gone, the entity will truly be destroyed.

Eh, if that was the case, Argentina would have stopped existing like fifty times already

[–] GlueBear@hexbear.net 10 points 5 days ago

They aren't in a war tho, especially a war with neighbors that aren't interested in having them around.

They have 2 official fronts open now and one in the west bank that might turn into another "smo."

They still haven't realized that they're going to have to face Yemen (eventually Iran too), who haven't even launched their retaliation yet.

Those air strikes they're wasting in Lebanon are much more valuable against Yemen. You know, the front that they CAN'T reasonably invade with troops.

Another nail in the coffin.

Certainty during war is against the precepts of scientific materialism. Then again half the people are uniroronically typing Inshallah here so this is going beyond a Marxist understanding of colonialism. The goal is not really defeating hezbollah, it is ethnic cleansing of border regions.

[–] RomCom1989@hexbear.net 34 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Not to be rude, but this kinda reads like the reddit atheists complaining about Islam being backwards

Obviously nothing that extreme, but I don't see anything wrong with using a slogan that is used by most of the resistance in the area, even if religion is anti materialist at it's core

Should we scold people for showing support to the resistance in this way because we are enlightened communists who have weaned ourselves off the opiate that is religion? If the it's a good enough slogan for the resistance,it's a good enough slogan for me.

[–] Boredom@hexbear.net 13 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I just worry people are mixing up revolutionary optimism with divine will. There is no guarantees during wars of extermination which is why it is so critical that the rest of the region intervene against Israel instead of just believing Hezbollah drawing Israel into a quagmire is the best solution.

[–] RomCom1989@hexbear.net 24 points 5 days ago

Well,I don't know if anyone would go that far,but some mild belief that something is out there and it will play a part in destroying the monster state I can excuse

God knows people need hope

Sometimes I wish I could believe that something is looking out for us,but I just can't

To be honest,I kinda envy the hope these people have, but that's neither here nor there

[–] thethirdgracchi@hexbear.net 33 points 5 days ago (1 children)

gaddafi-stern who-must-go goku-halal Marxism is not incompatible with Islam, you don't need to be an atheist to be a Marxist.

[–] Boredom@hexbear.net 5 points 5 days ago (1 children)

...Is hezbollah socialist? I am pretty sure they aren't Nasserists.

[–] Z_Poster365@hexbear.net 16 points 5 days ago (1 children)

https://www.marxists.org/history/etol/newspape/socialist-viewpoint-us/sepoct_06/sepoct_06_17.html

While not explicitly socialist, Hezbollah has a long history of alliance with socialist and marxist groups in the region. They are by far one of the most secular and progressive forces in the entire Middle East.

[–] Boredom@hexbear.net 1 points 5 days ago

Neat, not sure when they broke off from the other Shia group but I assume it was because of the Syrian occupation

[–] nohaybanda@hexbear.net 26 points 5 days ago

Whatever makes you feel extra clever today fam. I’m happy my one word thesis could help
