Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

Image is of a Hezbollah missile attack on a military camp west of Jenin.

The situation between Hezbollah and Israel is rapidly escalating, with massive bombing campaigns on southern Lebanon by Israel predominantly on civilians (as the tunnels in South Lebanon are mostly unreachable to the Zionists, just like in Gaza), while Hezbollah and its allies respond with missile attacks predominantly on Israeli military facilities. Israel is spreading an evacuation order to the residents of southern Lebanese villages while also bombing their routes of escape and civilian infrastructure, similar to a terror tactic used widely in Gaza.

Northern Israel is currently under military censorship to hide their losses, so we get very little information other than what the Resistance provides and what videos and images get through the censors.

I don't know if Israel will dare a ground incursion soon, but it seems fairly likely in the coming days or weeks.

Israel-Palestine Conflict

If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Sources on the fighting in Palestine against Israel. In general, CW for footage of battles, explosions, dead people, and so on:

UNRWA reports on Israel's destruction and siege of Gaza and the West Bank.

English-language Palestinian Marxist-Leninist twitter account. Alt here.
English-language twitter account that collates news.
Arab-language twitter account with videos and images of fighting.
English-language (with some Arab retweets) Twitter account based in Lebanon. - Telegram is @IbnRiad.
English-language Palestinian Twitter account which reports on news from the Resistance Axis. - Telegram is @EyesOnSouth.
English-language Twitter account in the same group as the previous two. - Telegram here.

English-language PalestineResist telegram channel.

Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Examples of Ukrainian Nazis and fascists
Examples of racism/euro-centrism during the Russia-Ukraine conflict

Sources:

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.
Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.
Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
Simplicius, who publishes on Substack. Like others, his political analysis should be soundly ignored, but his knowledge of weaponry and military strategy is generally quite good.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Pro-Russian Telegram Channels:

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

https://t.me/aleksandr_skif ~ DPR's former Defense Minister and Colonel in the DPR's forces. Russian language.
https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.
https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.
https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.
https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.
https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.
https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.
https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.

Pro-Ukraine Telegram Channels:

Almost every Western media outlet.
https://discord.gg/projectowl ~ Pro-Ukrainian OSINT Discord.
https://t.me/ice_inii ~ Alleged Ukrainian account with a rather cynical take on the entire thing.

Говорит Шестиугольный Медведь!

Сообщение Совинформбюро!

Hi!

I'm here to publish the list of proposals, made both by the mod team in internal discussions and from proposals made by users last week, to be voted on by the news heads.

The process will be quite simple. Below this comment will be a series of comments from me.

They will follow the format of...

  • geordi-yes YES VOTE

  • geordi-no NO VOTE

If you agree with the proposal, upvote the comment with geordi-yes YES VOTE. If you disagree with the proposal, upvote the comment with geordi-no NO VOTE.

The voting margin to pass a proposal as approved shall be with a minimum floor of 36 upvotes, based on the rounded rough average of megathread upvotes of popular comments divided in half. Should a proposal be passed but prove to be controversial by also receiving a no vote of at least 26 votes, the proposal shall be tabled and reworked for presentation at a future megathread should the need arise.

Additionally, the floor will still be open to new proposals with a caveat that the minimum floor for acceptance for deliberation by the council of news mods shall be 31 upvotes. This is just in case someone is struck by the lightning of inspiration and wants to bring up an idea to shape the comm in a better direction.

The polls are now open.

Semper post, news hogs.

Edit: P.S, I know some of the proposals are kinda scuffed looking, if they pass I'll format them so they look like the others on the rule sidebar. chalk it up to my laziness lol

Edit 2: P.P.S Pig poop balls. The voting period shall last until the megathread is locked.

Ho Chi Minh's death on September 2 1969 did not stop the liberation of Ho Chi Minh City and the expulsion of the USians on April 30 1975.

Resistance News Network has been showing some of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah's speeches, especially his last speech. The vids might be only openable in telegram and I don't know where to upload the videos themselves. Forgive me if someone already linked these

The great martyred leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah in his final speech.

https://t.me/PalestineResist/59614

🔴 Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine: — Farewell, O master of resistance and its guardian. Our vow is an eternal revenge that will never fade... Humiliation is far from us. — Notes: 0:05 - George Habash (Al-Hakim) leading a crowd chanting "Beirut, Beirut, we will sacrifice for you, O Beirut!" 0:10 - Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah in a speech on January 5, 2020: "We must continue the path with resilience, until ultimate victory. No one should be shaken, no one should stop, no one should be afraid. This is a normal situation that takes place in all wars where the great ones are martyred. The rest will go on to achieve their goals."

"We are on the verge of a great victory, we must not be defeated as a result of the fall of a great leader from among our leaders. Rather, we must carry their blood. Carry their banner, carry their goals, and move to the front with great determination, will, faith."

0:50 - Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah in a speech from Quds Day in 2013: "We will not abandon Palestine. We will not abandon Al-Quds. We will not abandon the people of Palestine. We will not abandon the holy sites of the nation."

In other news, this sunday there are legislative election in Austria and the far-right FPO is leading the polls with 25-29%, here's the new Michael Roberts on Austria. The communist party of Austria, which currently holds the mayorship in Austria's second largest city of Graz, "could" re-enter parliament for the first time since 1959 since it's polling at 3-4% and the treshold to enter parliament is 4%

So, like, from Satanyahu's point of view, this is the time to accept a ceasefire and hostage deal right?

The whole personal point of continuing the wars for him is that he's in trouble with the law and a lot of people didn't like him, but now with these successes in Lebanon his party is leading the polls again, and the AJ+ guy on the latest chapo said that (and this was BEFORE killing Nasrallah) he was the most popular politician in Israel again, so if he starts moving towards accepting a ceasefire while he's a ugh """hero""" to israelis won't that mean they'll think twice before prosecuting the man who "saved northern israel"?

[–] ElChapoDeChapo@hexbear.net 1 points 2 minutes ago

Maybe but I think it may be way too late for a ceasefire at this point, not to mention most of those hostages gottta be fucking dead by now either from indiscriminate zionist bombing or starved to death because of the blockade

Our wonderful cuck-in-chief Arevalo has agreed to send 150 military police over to Haiti.

The funniest part about us sending our military overseas is learning how fucking useless they are when they aren’t massacring children. We lost a couple of our “elite” special forces in Africa because they decided to go on a suicide mission thinking it would pay off.

Slate interviewed a reporter in Lebanon. Of course such interviews are fairly rare in the American media. They make Israel look bad. The article is from two days ago - I think interviews over days where condensed.

Lebanon Israel war: She watched the pager attacks unfold. She almost can't believe what she's seeing now.

A Lebanese reporter began last week covering pagers that blew up across the country. She almost can’t believe what she’s seeing now.

With Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah's martyrdom marking a very significant moment in the history of the resistance, I think that it puts a natural stop to my effortpost about the history about the pan-Shia moment. I'm also just too demoralised and sad to continue writing, maybe I'll one day do another one of these in happier times. Thank you all for reading these, I can answer any questions if God gives me strength. I have one favor to ask, can someone please post this in the history or effortpost comms?

Part One

Part Two, it gets continued in the first comment

Part Three, it also gets continued in the first comment

[–] Seasonal_Peace@hexbear.net 8 points 47 minutes ago

Thank you comrade, I learned so much from you.

[–] SapGreen@hexbear.net 25 points 1 hour ago (2 children)

I have posted all three parts in one post on the effort comm here.

[–] LargePenis@hexbear.net 13 points 1 hour ago

I completely understand, thank you for the contributions. All the best.

[–] KurtVonnegut@hexbear.net 16 points 1 hour ago

Thank you so much for writing these, I read all of them and learned a lot of things not taught in typical western sources. Seriously, it was a great write-up.

[–] heartheartbreak@hexbear.net 26 points 1 hour ago

[–] mkultrawide@hexbear.net 26 points 2 hours ago

[–] refolde@hexbear.net 27 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Just a minor inconvenience I'm sure.

[–] FungiDebord@hexbear.net 6 points 51 minutes ago* (last edited 50 minutes ago) (2 children)

no one surrenders to an airplane, let alone a rocket attack.

[–] refolde@hexbear.net 8 points 44 minutes ago

I mean if someone gets struck by a rocket they won't have time to surrender. So sure.

[–] FunkyStuff@hexbear.net 6 points 39 minutes ago

Sending a few million settlers to hide every night is no way to run a country though, the strategic impacts of these rocket attacks is gonna become apparent if they keep up long enough to start causing more fatigue than just Hamas and Hezbollah's rockets. If it stops next week then yes, it will have been a minor inconvenience.
