Summary

Donald Trump has nominated Pam Bondi, Florida’s former attorney general (2011–2019) and longtime ally, as his pick for U.S. attorney general after Matt Gaetz withdrew from consideration.

Bondi, known for her work combating drug trafficking and her role in Trump’s impeachment defense, will face Senate confirmation.

Her nomination has drawn praise from Republicans, including Sen. Lindsey Graham, and is seen as less controversial than Gaetz, who withdrew amid past allegations.

Bondi’s past ties to Trump, including a donation linked to Trump University investigations, have sparked scrutiny but have been denied as improper.

Predictable. Maybe the Gaetz pick was just in order to make the Pam Bondi selection look halfway sane.

It's not, mind you.

At this point every single move he makes is 100% predictable based on 1980-2000 business marketing strategies.

You mean the business marketing strategies that allowed him to bankrupt multiple companies?

[–] bitchkat@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

When he bankrupts the country it will bigly beautiful.

Wow, you must be able to tell the future if you called that Trump would pick someone horrible. Who could have guessed that? lol

[–] justOnePersistentKbinPlease@fedia.io 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I called that the Pedo was a trap. Because as openly and brazenly corrupt as Pam Bondi is, she is better than Gaetz, and now the senate GOP cant refuse her as easily.

[–] JPAKx4@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You greatly overestimate Trump's planning skills

[–] justOnePersistentKbinPlease@fedia.io 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Oh he's an idiot.

He has someone smart behind him though, dont assume that his entire team is idiots.

Just like in 2016, he was able to do rallies, albeit this time barely coherent ones, that were tailored to the demographics of each stop.
E.g. Rust belt its all about a reliance on the crowd wanting manufacturing jobs back and not understanding tariffs. Whereas in NYC it was anti-immigrant racism spiced through an insult comic because the rich of NYC hate them in "their city."

Right here is a huge reason dems lost. The narcissism and self-righteousness over their own intellect blinded them to the real threat. Don't underestimate fascism

[–] 52fighters@lemmy.sdf.org 16 points 2 days ago (2 children)

I don't know anything about her. What's her story?

[–] gedaliyah@lemmy.world 52 points 2 days ago (1 children)

She was the attorney general of Florida, was Trump's personal attorney during one of his many trials, despite the obvious ethical violations in serving as the personal attorney for a defendant while acting as chief prosecutor in a state...

...and probable Trump side-piece.

[–] bitchkat@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

She is anti same sex marriage along with all the other repugnant policies of the party.

Bondi vociferously supports the death penalty and its timely application, but in the fall of 2013, she persuaded Gov. Scott to postpone the execution of murderer Marshall Lee Gore -- because it was scheduled the same night as a fundraising party kicking off her reelection campaign.

Yeah, she's basically a perfect Trumpian appointee.

[–] overload@sopuli.xyz 17 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Phew, glad to see she's also a piece of shit. Definitely more appropriate than Gaetz but come on.

[–] Free_Thoughts@feddit.uk 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Why does that make you happy?

[–] overload@sopuli.xyz 4 points 1 day ago

Because I missed the /s

[–] Cheems@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Rest assured, no one aside from his supporters thinks any move he makes is sane
