There probably weren't any on Death Star 1, but Death Star 2 was still in construction so it likely had slaves. Though that doesn't make the rebels the bad guys for blowing it up, it just makes the Empire even worse

These Wookiees were transported to the Death Star's construction site. Much of the needed funding came from appropriated funds originally earmarked for the Department of System Exploration and the Department of Public Works.

I also love how the funding came straight from austerity financing and raiding public goods departments, again how horrifically realistic
