Long story short, my otherwise perfectly healthy partner had to go through brain surgery earlier today due to a clot in her brain causing two mini-strokes. She’s fine now and expected to make a full recovery with no lasting damage but man it was so scary :c

We’re barely in our mid-20s this sort of shit isn’t supposed to happen! She has to stay at the hospital until Sunday and we don’t know if there will be rehab and stuff involved. We do know that the docs are going to try their best to find out why it happened.

I feel morbidly vindicated in my impostor syndrome telling me life was going a bit too well in more or less all aspects lately, so this kind of thing feels deserved somehow (for me not for her she’s the most precious thing on earth and deserve only good things)

No real point just wanted to yell into the void a bit. My family and friends are all great for support so I’ll be fine.

Sorry to hear that. A word of advice - don't let them fob her off by delaying or under-treating any symptoms she has. I had a stroke and first my rehabilitation was delayed because of covid, and then what was meant to be physio every 6 weeks was more like every 6 months because of the NHS backlog and waiting times. I am STILL on the waiting list to see the neurophysios, haven't seen them at all yet. Long story short - I now have permanent damage that might have been avoided. Balance and co ordination problems, weak left side that I can't use properly - this causes issues with walking and other daily activities. Fight for her to make sure she gets what she needs. I don't have anyone to fight for me and it feels like I've been left to rot.

Oh and would you dm me your money-sendy details? I know you’re struggling and as cliche as it seems, after going through all this I’d like to help out another stroke victim in a way i know matters <3
