This is one of those things you see and instantly your mind jumps to an expose posted 5 years in about how it's actually cover for legal slavery, drug trafficking and human trafficking not to mention rampant SA and physical assault.
My mom is one of those woo-woo left leaning hippies that loves RFK and all his slop content. She also freaks out about one of her uncles being mistreated in a state run psyche institution. I'll have to get her opinion on this take later tonight.
I've been in psych wards numerous times for my drinking and ymmv on how good they are honestly. It's for sure something that needs to be changed but it sure as shit won't happen under Trump.
This would have been back in the 50-60's when these institutions were getting a pretty bad rap for mistreating their patients. I don't think my great uncle was lobotomized or anything, but definitely some poor care.
