Even if the global south launched then won WW3 with an overwhelming victory, it would not eliminate imperialism, since that is the necessary result of monopoly capitalism and uneven development in the world. The "slow" method is the only way to eliminate the material basis of imperialism.
This is quite an odd way of thinking about things, since there is a lot more to geopolitics than enthusiastically triggering WW3 at the first opportunity.
Where did I say imperialism would be permanently defeated? It would merely be a resounding victory for the working classes of the world and a move towards a multipolar world in which socialism could flourish without being stomped out at birth by the Americans
I interpreted "ripped off in one swoop" as a permanent defeat, but if that's not what you meant, then I would still comment that none of the "great powers" are in any rush to start WW3 at this moment, since none of them are really ready for it except Russia (who is bogged down on one front, so couldn't do much elsewhere).
WW3 is the only way forward for humanity and it will happen one way or the other. I know China and Iran are in no rush to start it, which is why they failed at this critical moment when they had an opportunity to have an advantage
