Fediverse vs Disinformation
Pointing out, debunking, and spreading awareness about state- and company-sponsored astroturfing on Lemmy and elsewhere. This includes social media manipulation, propaganda, and disinformation campaigns, among others.
Propaganda and disinformation are a big problem on the internet, and the Fediverse is no exception.
What's the difference between misinformation and disinformation? The inadvertent spread of false information is misinformation. Disinformation is the intentional spread of falsehoods.
By equipping yourself with knowledge of current disinformation campaigns by state actors, corporations and their cheerleaders, you will be better able to identify, report and (hopefully) remove content matching known disinformation campaigns.

I cannot even express how shocked I am that the press statement was 75% factually inaccurate; is the Executive branch just blatantly lying to us‽
Seriously, fuck these assholes. The only way they can justify their pitiful existence is through outright disinformation at the expense of anyone they believe they can marginalize. Makes my fucking blood boil. At least it's further proof that you can't rely on the government to do anything other than exploit, decieve, and oppress.
Yes, thankfully we gave the last admin the boot for the same shit its unfortunate that people thought these assholes were a good idea. But trump is doing exactly what he said he would. I wish democrats had an ounce of the willingness that trump does to meet their base's wants. Then we probably wouldn't be in this mess.
