I still think it makes no sense to write ~~political~~ non-sports slogans on a football pitch. (Not that I support racism)
Edit: Ok I'm clearly missing some US-specific sports context here.
Quite frankly it's flat out scary that you think that saying 'racism is bad' is politics.
Fundamental human rights, and a basic respect for human beings regardless of what race they were born as, is not politics. People who want to make it politics should have the ever living fuck smacked out of them at minimum.
'political' was probably a bad choice of word on my part because I agree that whether racism is bad needn't be up for debate. The point I was trying to make was more that this proclamation has nothing to do with football. They could plaster a hundred other agreeable slogans like 'end fossil fuels', 'tax the rich' etc. across the pitch but I don't think it's something the football goer would appreciate.
Put the shovel down, please. Racial justice and sports have an extremely long history. You are either uneducated on the subject or trolling extremely hard. Racism in sports is an ongoing issue both domestically and worldwide, pretending they aren't related is insane.
