It's been a year since I was let go from my last full time, permanent job. I've never been able to find work since then. I know that if they were to just put me on the desk, I'd do the job well and excel at it. But nobody will do that. Because I can't network. I'm sorry, but I can't fake sincerity. I can't pretend I'm not just talking to someone because I want a job. But this arbitrary thing that has nothing to do with the job is apparently the end-all-be-all of finding work.

Similar to me. I've only gotten hired by Black managers who saw the potential in me. They were right but weird only Black people hire me.( it's not weird I know why)
