Summary

Two teenage girls, ages 15 and 16, were arrested in Texas for allegedly plotting a "mass casualty attack" at Memorial High School near Houston.

Authorities say the girls planned to use pipe bombs and guns, sharing details on social media. The FBI's Threat Mitigation Team helped local police respond, leading to their swift arrest.

One girl, a Willis High School student, faces unrelated charges, while the other, from Spring Branch, is held in a nearby county.

The school has since increased security measures.

No word on whether they actually had the means to carry out the plan they posted to social media.

I hope they learn not to be idiots and get released quickly.

Shared on social media, so "idiots" is highly likely.

Anyone has the means to make pipe bombs. Whether they had the knowledge is another matter.

Anyone with access to the Internet has the knowledge available to them. I'm sure their search history will be discoverable and yield some insight.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world -2 points 1 day ago

That's what I'm suggesting. Did they even look up how to do it?

Of course, they could have used a public library computer or something.
