It's owned by Restaurant Brands International which is headquartered in Toronto, but listed in both Toronto and New York stock exchange. The majority owned is 3G capital, a Brazilian firm.
I would highly recommend locally-owned coffee shops anyway. They're just better.
That info is outdated actually, 3G sold their shares in 2019 apparently, now the biggest shareholders group are american
