There are always the 10% idiots, unfortunately AfD somehow got 20% of the vote.
The people who love fascism think it's their chance now. But they are mistaken. Europe is not giving in to that again.

how do you have so much faith? if you look at the Nazi elections it went something like

~2.5% ⇒ ~5% ⇒ 10% ⇒ 20% ⇒ 30something% ⇒ dictatorship

if you look at AfD it's following s similar pattern and we're currently at 20something%

Looking at past history, just one more successful election cycle and the far-right can consolidate and eliminate any democratic opposition

I'm guessing by Nazi elections you are referring to the pre WW2 elections, where the NSDP took power without a majority.

The difference now in for instance Germany is that AfD is by far most popular in a small segment of the country. And even if AfD get 30% they will not be able to take exclusive control, probably not even be able to get into government.

I agree it's worrying that AfD is so popular, and it does indicate a problem in Germany that needs to be addressed.
My guess is they are popular because the former East Germany part feel overlooked, and that too many resources are used on refugees/immigrants.
Something Denmark has warned about on a European scale for more than a decade.
We simply haven't figured out a working framework to keep receiving more and more immigrants from non Western countries, for a variety of reasons.
And the worst off in society believe they are the ones to foot the bill, because the poor don't get much share in our increased wealth. But the truth is most of our increased wealth is going to those that already have more than they need.

We need to for instance stop giving more tax benefits to the rich, and have a better balance in how the wealth of our society is distributed. Fascism sucks at doing that, but without an alternative on the left, that's where the protest votes will go. Because they promise to "solve" what the less well off perceive to be a huge part of the problem.
