Valeriano Orobón Fernández, born on this day in 1901, was a Spanish anarcho-syndicalist theoretician, trade union activist, translator, and poet who wrote the lyrics of the revolutionary song "A Las Barricadas".
Orobón believed in the organizational power of unions, believe that they would have a major role in reorganizing society in a more libertarian fashion. Orobón was also strongly opposed to the communist (i.e., Soviet) ideas in Spain during the Spanish Civil War.
Shortly before his untimely death from tuberculosis, Orobón wrote the words of "A Las Barricadas" to the tune of "Warszawianka 1905 roku", itself a well-known Polish revolutionary song. The anti-fascist tune became the anthem of the Confederación Nacional del Trabajo (CNT), and one of the most popular songs of the Spanish anarchists during the Civil War.

I was out collecting wood and walking a bit and I was thinking about if anyone's tried to gameify exercise/walking/etc. via a table-top RPG-like system instead of like an app. Closest I can think of are the Digimon toys where you're supposed to walk and this randomly triggers over time battle encounters and stuff. And also the 3DS with its playcoin system (and I guess the Pokewalker, etc. for Pokemon).
But a fantasy RPG where you use a pedometer to count steps and then you cash those steps in the game as like the main gold-approximating currency/resource could be cool. You'd have a similar element to the Digimon toys pretending you went on a journey and then you use ttrpg mechanics to gameify it and expand the journey a little more. Would be a neat idea if it hasn't been invented yet.
I had a 3DS as a kid and instead of walking I'd just shake it up and down and it counted it as steps
I was gonna say we did that with the digimon toys as a kid. Until an older brother made fun of a kid cause it looked like a jacking off motion and then people only shook their digivices privately

I don't have time right now to investigate if this is what you're looking for but I remember reading about it in the past
Yeah, that's maybe close. Although app-based. Looks neat though.
Omg my brother had one of these it was sick
My brother and I had them but I could never find them. No idea where they would have went, I don't think anyone would have thrown them away. Especially annoyed because they're like $100+ now, for old or the new models.
