So they are the same motor only difference is the firmware? Seems like why bother? I wouldn’t mind if they had an actual lower spec motor on the cheaper one.

It's probably cheaper to manufacture a bunch of the same motor than two physically different ones due to economy of scale.

Reminds me of the headphone company that got caught stuffing foam into one of their headphones and selling them for less.

It was cheaper that actually making two different models…
