For this Sunday Kino Night, first up is Day of Wrath (1943). In the puritanical hellscape of 17th-century Denmark, a young woman whose mother was accused of witchcraft, and who is sympathetic toward another old woman currently accused of witchcraft, falls in love with a priest’s son. I’m sure this will end well. Widely considered one of the best Danish films of all time, and one of the best films of the 1940s. Director is Carl Theodor Dreyer, the auteur best-known for The Passion of Joan of Arc (1928), which we have not yet watched.

Next up is Sinners (2025), the new hit horror from director Ryan Coogler, the guy behind Creed (2015) and Black Panther (2018). In 1932, a pair of African-American brothers return to their Mississippi hometown, only to discover something sinister afoot: vampires. Will they learn to rock and kick some butt? Hope so. Reviewers are raving about this one, so let’s check it out. We will be watching a camrip, which looks to be of acceptable quality, though we will have to deal with a watermark that wanders around the screen.

We’ll start at 8PM EST on Blorptube, right here:

Be there, comrades!
