Yeah, it's very self-reinforcing behavior. And I am sympathetic to their initial plight. On the other hand, I have seen many people like that who just don't want to be seen as normal. They enjoy their weirdness. And I'm all about "you do you, boo," but when it leads to other anti-social behaviours like stalking, or making others feel uncomfortable on purpose, it becomes a bigger issue.
I def don't agree with bullying, but sometimes people do need to be told what they are doing is strange for a good reason. So yeah, people are free to have ai girlfriends/boyfriends--I don't think they should be outlawed or banned or anything like that.
But I'm also free to think ai girlfriends/boyfriends are weird and I'm free to say it. Stalking someone because of their views, regardless of what they are, is not ok though.
