Sometimes people will only see things through certain avenues. In this case, a not-so-accurate category.

"I know, but I wanted people to see it"

This type of behaviour is bannable on platforms with functioning moderation

[–] haui_lemmy@lemmy.giftedmc.com 9 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Thank god this place doesnt have functioning "moderation". The fediverse is literally the last place on earth where billinaires dont tell you what to do.

Moderation is not bad in itself, it is curating of content to keep topics on track and quality above a certain limit. It has absolutely nothing to do with billionaires or their desires. A lot of subs on different instances are really shitty because of lacking moderation. Leaving subs completely unmoderated is a recipe for a disaster shitpile.

The good old forum days also had a lot of moderation to keep them from turning to shit.

Nuance. As you can see in my comment, i wrote it "moderation" which is supposed to mean the form of moderation that antisocial media is up to.

[–] ExcessShiv@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Nothing in the other persons comment suggests that type of moderation though

[–] haui_lemmy@lemmy.giftedmc.com 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

That one is called context. The commenter rants about in their eyes unfitting content would be removed if this place had functioning moderation. This is figuratively the exact opposite what lemmy is about.

They're not wrong though, this is a meme sub and this post is not actually a meme so it doesn't really belong. I disagree with your statement that the commenter wants it gone because they don't personally like it, they want gone because it is objectively is not a meme and shouldn't be posted here.

Intentional violation of community rules should trigger warnings/bans/etc. in a well moderated community.

[–] haui_lemmy@lemmy.giftedmc.com 1 points 3 days ago

I disagree. A meme can be a lot of things and the meanings of words can change over time or depending on the context.

I and a lot of folks in this community agree that this is a meme, and a good one. Painting your opinion as objective truth is also exceptionally poor taste.

Additionally, equating "functioning" moderation with your pedantic opinion from an account on an ANARCHIST server is absolutely ironic.

I'm exceedingly sure the only moderation that would happen on dbzer0 would be csam or hate against minorities.

Deducing from this that you're either completely lost or playing devils advocate as a troll.

In any case, I'm gonna end this here as you will likely double down again and I just love to take that opportunity away from trolls.

Have a good one.

Guess what? This user has been avidly online since the BBS days and really … posters such as yourself were very annoying back then, too.
