Ban PitBulls
Dog bite severity varies by the breed of dog, and studies have found that pit bull–type dogs have both a high rate of reported bites and a high rate of severe injuries, compared to other non–pit bull–type dogs.
Pit bull–type dogs are extensively used in the United States for dogfighting, a practice that has continued despite being outlawed. Several nations and jurisdictions restrict the ownership of pit bull–type dogs through breed-specific legislation.
Rules:
-
Keep it civil.
-
No advocating for violence.
-
The sole goal for this comm is to ban pit bulls from every jurisdiction and to treat the remaining ones with respect while every caretaker follows the required safety precautions to keep everyone safe. Dog breeds with documented health issues should also be stopped from being forcibly bred into this world.
-
No pit bull advocate gaslighting. Though good faith debates are allowed.

I'd advise everyone contact this instances admins to let them know there's either a troll community or (even worse) an authentic community made to advocate the culling of a large amount of pets.
@Admin@lemmy.ca
If you report it, it goes to the mod. So IM their admin team.
But this is something the admins would likely want to know considering it looks like the main admin has a pit mix...

Discussing this with the admin team, I personally commented:
And it seems like everyone agrees.
This is a bad faith statement/claim to make which does not further your points in any meaningful way.
givesomefucks@lemmy.world Please do not @ us unless you find something that actually requires our attention. Doing so otherwise will likely result in a mod/admin action. Thank you.
The community says nothing about culling and does specify that remaining animals can be kept.
Pitbulls are statistically more likely to bite, and they have a more dangerous bite. There is a very good reason to take banning certain dangerous animals seriously. People aren’t allowed bears for pets, there are always limits.
Just because you don’t agree with a wildly accepted movement, doesn’t make it trolling, and you don’t need to make their movement seem worse by lying saying they want to cull them.
The sidebar rules kinda addresses your concerns imo.
Those were written by original mod, you can look at the modlog to see what's been happening since the new one took over. But I doubt that was ever an authentic sentiment.
Since the new mod anyone pointing out that multiple studies show that breed doesn't predict temperament gets banned.
The entire premise of this sub has as much scientific evidence behind it as antivax movements
Those rules are the new ones posted as mod post 9 days ago.
And there’s even more studies that show that aggression can be bred, so that means absolutely nothing.
Because you choose to ignore the surmounting evidence to the contrary? You’re the antivaxxer is this scenario mate, sorry.
I’ve got no horse in this race, but facts and evidence support that they bite more than any other breed. Ignore facts to bury your head in the sand though. I came across this on all, and saw your claiming of culling and got curious.
You’re fucking way off the mark here mate.
That's a pretty bold claim. Do you have any evidence of this? I've never seen anything calling for the culling of pitbulls, just not breeding so they die off.
I'd rather people can advocate for what they think is right. I don't see how this is much different from the gun debate. Some animals simply shouldn't be pets, we don't allow all kinds of cats either.
No need to call people trolls just cuz you disagree
I put this as a troll post because, to me, this community is a joke. They're serious otherwise - it's a sad migration from reddit.
Oh yeah, I got the point of your post.
And figured the reason it was upvoted is normal people from /all seeing it.
But if I was an admin and had a community like this on my instance, I'd want to know about it.
