No clue. I've tried to remain largely detached and treat it like watching a train wreck.
Unfortunately, I live right smack dab in the middle of all this, so I need some of it in my feed to remain informed. So I just filter it out by default and catch up on the broad strokes later. No longer having my front page be a deluge of coverage of two raging assholes seems to be helping my mental health lol.
People keep bringing up the "sticking your head in the sand" argument every time I mention filtering out political content, but I'd argue that if something is truly important, then it simply can't be avoided - even if you tried. Secondly, no one is obligated to "stay informed" at the cost of their sanity. And then there's the fact that I can go to an actual news site when I feel like it, rather than having the news force-fed to me throughout the day when I'm just trying to look at some memes while sitting on the toilet.
For sure!
I can't stand when people throw that argument around. There's a huge difference between ignoring reality (aka 'sticking your head in the sand') and not wanting to be flooded with endless coverage of the same topic/assholes; especially if it's causing unwanted stress.
Like, I am an adult with object permanence; I know things continue to exist and happen even if I need to look away for a while lol.
