Hand sewing and crochet could be something screen-free to do before bed.
But bags and dolls are a little boring. Also the weave of the leftover cotton fabric is tight so it’s annoying to stitch. It doesn’t go smoothly and even a thimble might not help. I feel too lazy to finish any of this
There's charities that will take knitted and crochet beanies and distribute them to the homeless. It's a good way to practice different stitches and designs.
I could definitely try that, I’m not very good at beanies though. Always get off the stitch count somehow or even with a test swatch my gauge is busted 🤨
It seems I’m only good at socks
Find an easy kids pattern. They are quicker. Once you've mastered one, you'll master the rest. I use a safety pin to mark the start of the round.
You can also start with the band first and work your way up rather than the round.
