If you stand your ground you still go to jail. Even if you are released you still got more inconvenienced than them.

As a white person I'm at minimal risk from them. But in order to stand your ground for another person they must have a legal right to be where they are. And if they are, in fact, not legally here, then bad things happen to you.

And what if they take your ID, claim you aren't a citizen so you don't get due process and then they deport you to a foreign prison?
