Discussion of climate, how it is changing, activism around that, the politics, and the energy systems change we need in order to stabilize things.

As a starting point, the burning of fossil fuels, and to a lesser extent deforestation and release of methane are responsible for the warming in recent decades: Graph of temperature as observed with significant warming, and simulated without added greenhouse gases and other anthropogentic changes, which shows no significant warming

How much each change to the atmosphere has warmed the world: IPCC AR6 Figure 2 - Thee bar charts: first chart: how much each gas has warmed the world. About 1C of total warming. Second chart: about 1.5C of total warming from well-mixed greenhouse gases, offset by 0.4C of cooling from aerosols and negligible influence from changes to solar output, volcanoes, and internal variability. Third chart: about 1.25C of warming from CO2, 0.5C from methane, and a bunch more in small quantities from other gases. About 0.5C of cooling with large error bars from SO2.

Recommended actions to cut greenhouse gas emissions in the near future:

That context is far too disasterous on a planetary scale to ignore in this discussion.

Again, Biden's refusal to step down undermined every single act he took positively towards the environment a million times over, A BILLION TIMES over, 7 billion or so times for every person on this earth. His presidency deserves to be thrown into the dumspter heap of history for that.

I'm not willing to go that far; people in that kind of decline often don't have the self-awareness that it takes to make good decisions. I'm willing to blame the people around him for not forcing it, but that's not the same as aiming at him.

Why are you doing these mental gymnastics? This is a fact Joe Biden should have known and should have accounted for before trying to run at an incredibly advanced age. Yes, this is specifically and primarily Joe Biden's fault. That is how culpability works, the dangers of age towards our ability to think lucidly aren't a new awareness that has suddenly dawned on us only after poor Joe started to get fuzzy.

sigh can you just stop? He fucked us over, badly, and yes the cabinet and people around Joe Biden also fucked us over. Jill Biden seriously fucked us because she was absolutely one of the people who should have known what was happening and stood up to say something FAR earlier about her husband, a man she would have presumably been able to tell wasn't in mental faculty terms the man she had been married to for a good chunk of her life....

Aww yeah just blame Biden constantly and not literally every US politician and billionaire because you don’t actually understand the problem.

This is a lazy, disengenous take of my argument and you know it.

I blame plenty of other people, constantly, I level criticisms at all kinds of politicians. Your response assumes I am obsessed with Biden and even a cursory look at my comment history shows that to be a weird focus you are projecting onto me.

Joe Biden was the president of the United States, so yes I hold him most responsible because he was again... the person in the position of by far the most power in the US, who specifically applied for the job of most powerful person in the US.

Literally all you do is complain about the Democratic Party. My guess is that you want to destroy it. But nothing will pop up in its place any time soon, so all you’re doing is aiding Trump.

Maybe your time would be better spent on “How we get out of this mess,” instead of “This is how we got here.” Because we all know how we got here. You’re beating a dead horse.

But I’m sure people like you don’t want to self reflect.

Literally that is not all I do, not only do I talk about other political things I also use this account to talk on a variety of things that aren't directly political so in no sense do I literally only complain about the Democratic Party.

Do you realize though that this mentality you are openly admitting to having is entirely a selfulling prophecy of learned helplessness against Republicans/conservative fascists? I don't really care whether the Democratic party dies or continues, it is irrelevant.
