You mean focusing on kitchen table politics instead of culture war BS? Shocking!
Amen to that. As a lefty, I have despaired at seeing some terminally online so-called "leftists" do ridiculous things like oppression olympics and arguing over who is more intersectional than thou. And the purity tests. Oh, the purity tests, gawd.
That is no way to run elections, FFS. People want to see what you are going to do for them. Even if that means "centering" white males and not having certain people "check their privilege". 🙄 You won't win jack squat by only appealing to the most pure humans you can find, as defined by people who don't seem to live in the real world.
So tired of the fringiest of the fringe lecturing others (including myself) on the most minor of details, all while we watch Republicans get more and more power and people like Taco going unchained. I think most of this is online, but some of this definitely spills over into campaigns and real life. I will never forget seeing people lecturing others that Chris Rock and Will Smith still don't have as much privilege as the average cishet white dude might have, as if money and class don't matter. Oh, and how anyone that voted for Bernie is a misogynist and racist because he focuses on issues of class. FFS, what even is this shit? Are these people trying to create more Republicans?
I'd like to see more Democrats get caught TRYING to do something for everyone. Tell the voters what you want to do for them at the outset and push for it. Don't come in at some tepid point between some made-up "liberal media" center and the rabid right and then "compromise" by moving even further right from that position.
I don't give a rat's ass about how many oppression olympics medals they have, and I really think most voters don't either. It's about the policies.
This is what you got out of Mamdani’s win?
