In regards to Ente being US based, this is mainly due to EU being difficult to establish a company in a country where you dont have a physical presence.
The team behind Ente are international and work from everywhere around the world. They initially did try to make a European company but would have to make some workarounds to achieve this
Setting up a company in the US was more straightforward
I think I'm Estonia you can easily get an "E-Citizenship"
Interesting! Maybe this is one of the workarounds that they did not wish to use?
The point is, that they apparently have considered EU as a base for their company, but picked USA because it was more straightforward to set it up there.
For me, I am mostly concerned for my data. I trust that if they get any pressure from the USA to access their data and files, that they can relatively easily unroot the company and move it somewhere else as they are not physically bound to the country.
