Marketing, that's all it is. Companies know how to make ads convincing you that you need their product.
Too bad they have forgotten how to make good products.
This is by design in the current situation. Why make one good product when you can sell a mediocre product every year. Unfortunately everyone is doing this so you have no choice and zero competition.
