As long as it has 16 gigs of ram it would be perfect for most users. Unfortunately I feel like it's going to be gimped to only 8, maybe 12 if we're lucky.
I think 8 is optimistic.
One good thing to come out of AI bubble is that all iPhones have at least 8GB of RAM.
Cheapest iPhone is the same price as this laptop. I suspect they have to cut into their margins in order to make this laptop.
There are easier ways - getting rid of modem, replacing OLED in favour of LCD, maybe even non-metal shell. They won’t cut RAM because it’s required for „AI” and we’re still in that hype cycle.
The 1199 15” Macbook air doesn't have an OLED.
Yeah, the Air starts at 8GB. I won't be surprised if they stick 4GB into this one. That or they use the lower cost of the slower processor processor to put in 8GB of RAM.
Does it? I thought, with much excitement in the community, Apple upped everything to a base ammount of 16GB.
This was done to support their AI efforts.
