Netanyahu: Israel to take military control of all of Gaza, but ‘we don’t want to keep it’

PM says plan is to capture entire Strip, remove Hamas, hand it to non-PA ‘Arab forces’; adds Israel and US agree on principles for post-Hamas Gaza, including non-Israeli civil control

Asked in a Fox News interview if Israel will take over the entire 26-mile strip, Netanyahu said: “We intend to, in order to assure our security, remove Hamas there, enable the population to be free of Gaza (sic), and to pass it civilian governance.” But, he stressed, “We don’t want to keep it. We want to have a security perimeter, but we don’t want to govern it. We don’t want to be there as a governing body.”

The prime minister said that Israel wants to “hand it over to Arab forces that will govern it properly, without threatening us, and giving the Gazans a good life.”

Ah so he didn't like the existing government in Palestine and runs a war of invasion just to install a sock puppet regime in that region.

NGL that's just as unreasonable as what we all think he is doing. There's nothing noble about killing civilians.

then you should talk to the current government (hamas) and its supporters (palestinians) :)

Currently Israel is invading Gaza and killing Palestinians in droves. At this point there is one place where an immense amount of war crimes are committed, and it's Gaza, and the perpetrators are overwhelmingly Israel soldiers and leaders.

Sure we can have a nuanced discussion, but currently the situation is pretty one-sided, so arguing about nuance is misplaced.

There's a vast amount of false equivalency and whataboutism in your comment and I really hope you are self-aware how dismissive this makes you sound.

yes after Gaza invaded Israel killing 1000 civilians (including a bunch of 20 year olds at a peace love and freedom music festival, then denied it lol) and still refuse to lay down its arms or return hostages as part of a cease fire (it’s pretty clear they have no desire for peace lol)

palestinians decided to fuck around, they’re now firmly in their find out era, they can continue to stave and suffer until they a) replace their government with someone competent or b) negotiate a cease fire
