A nice place to discuss rumors, happenings, innovations, and challenges in the technology sphere. We also welcome discussions on the intersections of technology and society. If it’s technological news or discussion of technology, it probably belongs here.
Remember the overriding ethos on Beehaw: Be(e) Nice. Each user you encounter here is a person, and should be treated with kindness (even if they’re wrong, or use a Linux distro you don’t like). Personal attacks will not be tolerated.

Firefox on my desktop.
Weird, same for me and I can click on the "show context" button just fine.
Have you tried clicking on "show context" on a comment made by someone from a different instance? That's what seems to be causing the problem.
Yes, on some older comments I received, and it works completely fine for me.
Same for me
Just checked with older comments across channels on other instances, can't replicate your problem anywhere. Very strange.
I just replicated the problem with Chrome.
If it helps, you're not alone. I have the same problem and it's super annoying.
Is this a beehaw thing? Try a different instance?
I'm only on Beehaw. Is it okay for me to create accounts on other Lemmy instances? I don't want to use up bandwidth unnecessarily.
Oh no you will be completely fine. Each instance is a different server. They practically encourage people to go to various instances to decrease the load on popular instances. Like, if you are good with this you might as well set up your own instance. It is the same set of communities you get access to anyway.
How expensive hardware and bandwidth wise to host an instance?
Haven't done it myself, just missing a lot of the knowledge, but suspect just a regular PC is enough if you are hosting for a small group of people. I was thinking to just build an instance for myself to sub other communities.
True. I hadn’t considered having a private instance just for me. That is actually a nice idea.
That's currently me. Running on the cheapest two core Digital Ocean droplet. I don't think it can handle much more than just me haha
How much is it? Just curious.
21 AUD (15 USD?) a month.
Haha no need to convert to USD 🇦🇺. Thanks for the info!
Have you tried a chromium browser? I haven't tried browsing lemmy on FF yet, but I never had that issue on chromium (Brave).
Firefox works fine for me
Oof.. then it might not be the browser. Maybe an extension?
No, but I don't have Brave installed. Let me try Chrome.
Hope it works!
