I'm going to a game store on Saturday to have a mini painting with some friends in a local TTRPG group. I have a huuuuge backlog of mini's that need to get painted... It's real bad lol

But doing it with friends will help motivate me, which was the whole reason we organized it because they suffer from the same problem haha

That's more of a wargame than a true TTRPG but there are Warhammer TTRPGs! Like Deathwatch, Rogue Legacy, and Imperium Maledictum.

This Discord group I ran across is specifically non-DnD TTRPG's only, which has been great honestly. We're getting together to paint mini's because we're looking to start a Mordheim campaign. I'm going to go with Skaven for my war band, looking forward to when we start that up 😄

That sounds cool.

40K has always interested me, but I never got around to playing. I understand the distinction you're getting at with it vs. TTRPGs, however.

I'm pretty happy I started this thread; I'm getting a really cool look at a whole bunch of other things I didn't know existed, but people pursue for hobbies.

I've never played 40k either but I love the lore! I just don't have the space available (or the money) to have a big army for a game like that. Mordheim is a good tradeoff though, it's similar in gameplay but you fight with small squads of like ten figures. There's also RPG elements with objectives you have to try and complete. The hard part is finding others to play with though, but if you're interested to try and get people in your area into that check out Broheim which is a community that's kept Mordheim alive since GW stopped supporting it!

That being said I highly recommend the Warhammer TTRPG's I mentioned too, they're a lot of fun. Each one gives a different flavor of the 40k universe. Deathwatch you play as a Space Marine which is as power fantasy as you'd imagine. While Rogue Legacy and Imperium Maledictum you're normal Imperium citizens, and your character is exactly as squishy as you'd imagine lol

I'm glad you started it too! A lot of cool things in this thread 😄
