๐ sorry! I'm out of the loop! Who's the developer behind this app? Was it someone that used to make a reddit version of this? Where is the hype coming? Other than that is wonderful to see new tools integrating with lemmy โคโคโค
It was sync for reddit before ๐
Thanks! ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ now a lot of stuff makes sense xd
No worries. I never really liked or used Reddit, but with Lemmy I feel at home. I had never used Sync for Reddit before, but still Sync for Lemmy is my app of choice - it is just really polished and adds some nice features.
No stress! Sync used to be an app for Reddit, it was essentially the equivalent to Apollo for android
It was clean, efficient and made with love ๐
When the 3rd party charges came in, sync was no more. The dev (not Devs, dev) who made it pledged to switch over to Lemmy.
Long story short, they delivered and here we are. Sometimes the key is more important than what's behind the door.
Yeah boost was one of the best apps for reddit.
Now it's the best app for Lemmy if you want all the bells and whistles. The app has like 2000 options :)
Good good, lemmy grows ๐
Yo you mean sync, though boost also was a beloved client for reddit
The developer is one crazy fellow called ljdawson, the hype comes from the fact that his app was the best way to view reddit and now he's launched the lemmy version which looks and feels the same
The developer originally created sync for reddit. He had a subreddit you could visit to discuss the app and submit issues and ask questions. When reddit announced their API changes, the developer agonized over what to do, because keeping sync for reddit would become too expensive.
When he announced he was going to create sync for lemmy instead of staying with reddit, basically the whole sync subreddit members all created lemmy accounts and began getting familiar with lemmy. Most of us signed up for announcements theough the developer to be notified for the initial beta release of sync for lemmy.
The hype has been from all if us eagerly awaiting the sync release for lemmy. It's been really hard having to deal with less superior apps to browse lemmy. The developer had a really strong base from reddit who loved his app and refused to continue using reddit without it, and the hype train has been growing from there. :)
