Brilliant headline, but I stopped reading when I scrolled and I got a popup ad for their merch.

That's fair. I often forget there are ads on the internet. I look at these through an RSS reader and Firefox Enhanced Tracking Protection set to Strict is enough that I hardly ever see an ad.
